‘What the World Will Be Like on January 20, 2025’: VP Previews Coming Debate
First Biden/Trump debate set for Thursday
With the first presidential debate just days away, Vice President Kamala Harris is framing this year’s election as a big choice between President Biden and Donald Trump.
Biden and Trump — their parties’ respective presumptive nominees — are set for a rematch of 2020, including debates.
The two will face off in the first of two planned debates Thursday, on CNN from Atlanta, Ga.
The event will also be aired on CNN International, CNN en Español, CNN Max and the CNN website.
CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will moderate the debate.
The network says it will last 90 minutes and include two commercial breaks.
Unlike in their previous showdowns, the candidates will have their microphones muted except for when it is their turn to speak.
There will also be no studio audience - and CNN intends to “enforce timing and ensure a civilised discussion.”
MSNBC conducted an exclusive interview with Harris, in which she talked about what this debate will mean.
“Joe Biden and this debate will make clear the contrast of the many issues in our country and our world that are complex and nuanced,” she said. “November of 2024 is binary. And when you look at the difference, I would ask people to really imagine what the world will be like on January 20, 2025.”
